The Great House, Lavenham
One of our favourite spots. This 14/15th century house in Lavenham's Market Place by the Guildhall was later lived in by Stephen Spender.
Now under French ownership, it is an excellent example of a "restaurant with rooms". There are just 5 bedrooms - all large, distinctive and delightful, beautifully decorated and welcoming. The food is all you might expect from the all-French team here.
Lavenham Priory

Lavenham is described as one of the finest mediaeval villages in England. Benedictine monks originally held title to this 13th century Priory. Today it has been restored to appear as it was during its Elizabethan period; as a wealthy Merchant's house. B&B guests can use all the principal rooms.
Each bedroom (Bedchamber) is distinctive and original and there are some 4-poster beds. A relaxed family atmosphere prevails and a memorable visit is the friendly owners' objective. Several excellent restaurants are within a few moments walk.

Haughley House
Late medieval manor house which retains the 'country house' style of a more leisurely age. Charming accommodation with a period atmosphere and delicious food in an historical setting in the heart of Suffolk. Food is prepared using the finest ingredients with organic vegetables grown in their own walled kitchen garden, fruit from the orchard, eggs from their hens and beef from their own traditionally reared cattle and game from their own land.
Ravenwood Hall

Black Lion, Long Melford
Located in an excellent position on the Green, below the imposing church, the Black Lion has been an Inn since 1661. Recently refurbished and with just 10 rooms, it has a stylish air and innovative cuisine. Just a few minutes walk from a wide range of antique shops.

Angel Hotel, Bury St. Edmunds
Bury's most famous coaching inn dates back to 1452. Charles Dickens wrote part of the Pickwick Papers whilst in residence here. It commands Angel Hill, overlooking the Abbey Gardens and pituresque ruins and is a few moments walk from the historic town centre.
Carefully upgraded by its private owners, there are 42 rooms including some with 4-posters. Gastronomic restaurant, also informal Brasserie in the Vaults.

The Swan Hotel, Southwold
Standing on the market place since medieval times, The Swan has always been proud to be the most important Inn of Southwold: the historical centre of gossip, entertainment and local politics.
The Swan Hotel has occupied its present site since the 14th century. White Hart Inn, Nayland
This 15th century inn is in a very pretty village in the heart of Constable country. These days it is a "restaurant with rooms" (six of them) owned by Michel Roux. The bedrooms are bright and recently refurbished.
The restaurant is excellent with imaginative cuisine using fresh local produce.

Hintlesham Hall, Nr. Ipswich
One of England's famous hotels located in a Grade 1 listed Georgian house. It was "put on the map" by Robert Carrier and now has 37 bedrooms or suites. In the spacious grounds there is a championship Golf course, fishing, tennis and there is an indoor swimming pool and health Spa. There is a celebrated restaurant which uses the finest ingredients and a notable wine cellar.

Milsom's, Dedham
A new hotel and restaurant with a perfect position in Dedham Vale again in the hands of the experienced family which owns Le Talbooth. Just 15 bedrooms and informal, relaxed dining in a brasserie style. You can use your dining allowance here to upgrade to Le Talbooth.

Maison Talbooth, Dedham
This Victorian house has superb views over Dedham Vale. Ten luxurious spacious suites and the elegant drawing room overlook the gardens. There is an easy walk or a courtesy car to the gastronomic restaurant at Le Talbooth on the river Stour
